To promote and support the growing aspiring Latino professional, we’ve started the Somos El Futuro scholarship for immigrant youth and Dreamers. Our Mission: “Amplifying the power of Latinos through professional and civic engagement.”

Somos El Futuro Scholarship is open NOW through May 16, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

 

Eligibility & Requirements

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be enrolled at one of the following institutions for the 2024-2025 school year:

    • Bellevue University

    • Metropolitan Community College

    • University of Nebraska at Omaha

  • Must not have been awarded a MYLPA scholarship in the past

  • Minimum weighted cumulative GPA of 2.50

  • Special consideration will be given to students needing financial aid, DACA recipients, immigrants, and Latino students

Requirements:

  • Completed application due on Friday, May 16, 2025 before 11:59 pm CST including: 

    • One recommendation via: https://forms.gle/2whHGmew4TaMdfHEA

    • Financial document (Financial Submission Summary or Federal Student Aid Estimator)

    • High school/college unofficial transcript

    • Acceptance letter (for those planning to enroll in college for the Fall of 2025)

    • Short answers:
            1.  Explain your financial need. 
            2. What career do you plan to pursue and why? What steps will you take to accomplish your career goals? 
            3. How do you hope to support your community as a young and emerging leader? 
            4. Describe the most challenging barrier to succeeding in high school or college and how you have overcome it. What strengths, skills, or talents do you have that will help you succeed in the future?

  • Once selected, in order to receive scholarship award, recipients must:

    • Attend MYLPA’s Award Luncheon

    • Attend 2 MYLPA events in the Fall of 2025

    • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50
